Solid Coats
A coat is called solid when the hair is not mottled. The base color of the coat is:
- either black
- or red (brown)

merle coats
The term merle coat is used when there are speckles and/or spots of varying size.

White markings are allowed but must be limited: they may appear on the head, neck, chest, belly, legs (without extending beyond the elbows or hocks), and the tip of the tail.
“Tan” markings are not mandatory. They range from beige to deep red. They may be located above the eyes, on the sides of the face, and on the legs.
Both eyes must be surrounded by color.
Colored ears are preferred, but if there is white it must not exceed 25% of the ear.
